What Is Open Nephrectomy?

OPEN NEPHRECTOMY normally involves removing the entire Kidney.

Your surgeon will make an incision up to 12 inches long in your side.

The surgeon will cut away your kidney’s blood vessels and its connections to your bladder and will then remove the entire organ.

Your surgeon may need to remove a rib during this procedure in order to access your kidney.
