Laparoscopic Nephrectomy Surgery

What Is Laparoscopic Nephrectomy Surgery?

In this a MINIMALLY INVASIVE procedure:

Laparoscopic Kidney procedures are performed under general anesthesia and last 2 to 4 hours.

The surgeon makes a few small incisions in your abdomen to insert a camera and other small instruments will then be inserted through the incisions. This will allow the surgeon to see inside you and remove your kidney. The surgeon makes a somewhat larger opening if your entire kidney needs to be removed.

Following the procedure, the incisions are closed with a stitch or two or with surgical tape; within a few months, they are barely visible. This type of surgery is usually less painful than open surgery. Recovery time is shorter as well.
