Hemodialysis is a treatment performed to filter blood outside the body, using a dialysis machine or system. During hemodialysis, blood is drawn off from a blood vessel and passed through a synthetic filter, called a dialyzer. In this dialyzer the blood is cleaned before being returned to the body and is therefore often referred to as the ‘artificial kidney’.
Modern dialysis machines provide what a renal patients needs in three hemodialysis sessions a week, each lasting for a minimum of four hours.
During this time patients are connected to the dialysis machine.
Our Center operates 8 FRESENIUS 5008S dialysis machines, offering up to 32 treatment sessions daily.
